Alan Davis, MD
Dr. Davis serves on the Cleveland Clinic Innovations Committee and is a highly regarded orthopaedic surgeon specializing in Sports Medicine, along with fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery. Dr. Davis has worked closely with Dr. Cannon since 1984 when they attended medical school together, and he has been with BioStar Ventures since 2008. Dr. Davis was an Academic All American and All Big Ten football scholar athlete at Michigan State University, along with being president of the MSU Varsity Club. He has served as a team physician for college and professional sports teams, and for USA Hockey. He has been involved in multiple medical and metabolic technologies including those related to sports drinks and the metabolic needs of high performance athletes as well as computerized software design for maximized bio mechanical muscle training, rehabilitation and conditioning.
Carl Deirmengian, MD
Carl Deirmengian, MD, is a practicing joint replacement surgeon at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his BA in chemistry at Princeton University in 1992, his MD at Harvard Medical School in 1996, his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005, and his Fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery of the Hip and Knee at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago in 2006. His numerous awards and achievements include: The Mark Coventry Award for outstanding science research-given by the Knee Society for his research in using biomarkers to identify infection in the human joint, The DeForest Willard award for outstanding chief resident at the University of Pennsylvania, the Orthopaedic Research and Education Fund award for outstanding research and the Leonard Marmor Award for joint arthroplasty. In 2009, Dr. Deirmengian was selected as a “John Insall Traveling Fellow” and completed a month long fellowship with the top total knee surgeons throughout the United States. He has numerous publications for various research projects throughout his career.
Jim Krieg, MD
Jim Krieg, MD, is the Chief of Orthopaedic Trauma and Fracture Care and a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, PA. He is a board certified surgeon whose practice focuses on orthopaedic trauma, including care of complex fractures and management of multiply injured patients. An active researcher and educator, he teaches nationally and internationally. He currently serves on the North American Musculoskeletal Trauma Education Committee of the Arbeitsgemeinshaft fur Osteosyntesefragen (AO). As an innovator, he has seen two of his ideas for medical devices successfully developed and brought to market. He is a frequent industry collaborator and invited speaker.
